Property Appraiser Geoffrey Greene and Chief Deputy Appraiser Les Cook gave a PowerPoint presentation regarding the appraisal process, the impact that the high number of foreclosures and the low number of new construction permits has had on the taxable values, and 2011 taxable value estimates. 
 
Management and Budget Director Cathy Taylor then gave a PowerPoint presentation pertaining to economic impacts, millage rate revenues, budget development, the possibility of increasing millage rates for Fire Rescue and Library Services, and additional options for reducing the County budget.  Discussion was held during and after the presentation.
 
Citizen Al Grubman stressed the importance of the lakes, rivers, and springs to the County and urged the Board to not reduce the budget for those restoration projects.
 
Duane Dueker of the Sugarmill Woods Civic Association requested clarification on the expenditures for 2007 versus what was projected for this coming year pertaining to the County general fund, the way the Sheriff's budget is calculated, creating a Municipal Service Benefit Unit (MSBU) for fire services being applied to non-ad valorem taxes.  Short discussion was held addressing each of these issues.
